Esther was born on December 10, 1925, the third and youngest child of Lucy Miranda and Juan Collazo in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

She arrived in the United States in 1937 and lived in the South Bronx with her mother, older sister and older brother.

Esther worked at various factory jobs until settling on the New York Life Insurance Company where she retired in 1984.

Esther is survived by her four children and five grandchildren.
