Obituary for Gertrude A. Rawson

Gertrude A. Rawson, 66, of The Bronx, passed away after a short hospitalization on February 20, 2023.



Getrude was born on April 24, 1956 in the Bronx, to Lillian Hilpert and Harry Rawson.



After graduating from Jane Adam's Vocational High School in 1975, she spent 12 years raising her three children before heading back to school; attending Hostos Community College— and pursuing a career in education.



After attending, Hostos Community College she would come to work for the New York City Board of Education as a Paraprofessional; where she assisted teachers, helping to educate students for almost 30 years.



In 1970 she would meet her husband Muzaffar A. Ullah Jr. They would later go on to have two daughters and a son.



After her retirement in 2019, she spent time traveling to her favorite places in Orlando, Florida; as well as, spending time with her pride and joy: her three grandsons Dylan, Brandon and Ethan, and her grandpup Teddy.



Gertrude Rawson was predeceased by her mother Lillian Hilpert, father Harry Rawson, sisters Ruth Simmons and Mildred Rawson, and husband Muzaffar A. Ullah Jr.



She is survived by: her oldest daughter Fe-Esperanza Ullah; her middle daughter Fatima Valentin and son-in-law Dennis Valentin; her son Muzaffar Ullah III and her daughter-in-law Alanna Brake-Ullah; her three grandsons, Dylan, Brandon and Ethan Valentin; her best friend and sister Iris Perez; and her grandpup Teddy Valentin. In addition to her many close friends whom she, also, loved dearly.
