Richard was a man that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Our “Richie” as he was called by his wife, family and friends was a kind soul, a kid at heart, a dreamer, creative and funny.

Richie was born on May 14,1963, the third child and only son born to Jaime and Esmeralda Olivera. Richie was born in Spanish Harlem, in New York City. In 1965, Jaime and Esme moved their family to the Bronx, where Richie would spend his childhood, grow up, go to school, and make many lifelong friends.
The Bronx is where he would meet the love of his life, Linda Torres. Linda and Richie grew up in the same neighborhood, they fell in love and later married. He was crazy about Linda till the day he died. Richie’s daughter was his heart and joy. He believed in being honest and straightforward with her which helped develop her into the strong woman she is today. There is no denying that Linda, Lindsay, and his family were the people that he loved the most. Richie also loved Marshall, his dog and trusted companion, who was always at his side.

Richie had many beloved friends, too. He loved to entertain and cook for them at his home in Tannersville, Pennsylvania, where Richie and Linda moved their family to in 2002. He loved the amazing natural landscape of the Pocono Mountains. He enjoyed gardening and beautifying his home. He always had a new decorating or home project to work on.

Painting with watercolors and oils was a hobby that he greatly enjoyed. Richie loved animals. In his lifetime his home housed birds, a turtle and iguana, hamsters, guinea pigs and his beloved, Marshall. The rest of the family’s pets were always excited and happy to see him.

Richie was passionate about music and was an avid collector of music from all eras and genres. His home was always lively with the sound of music playing in the background. Richie was technologically adept, an ability he learned on his own. He loved gadgets of all kinds. His latest passion was drone flying. Richie was also an exceptional billiards player, a skill he learned from his father, Jaime, and shared with his nephews. Time spent at Richie’s house was always a fun time.

Richie worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation and retired in 2018. He recalled his coworkers and days at DOS with fondness. Stories shared with family and friends were amusing and sad. He always recalled his time working at the 9/11 site.

Loved ones that will miss Richie are:
his wife Linda Torres, daughter Lindsay Olivera, his mother Esmeralda Olivera, his sisters, Esperanza Olivera, Wanda Y. Olivera and Jo A. Olivera-Sepulveda, his brothers- in-law Reynaldo Brigantty Jr, Jose A. Sepulveda, Irvin Torres and his nieces and nephews: Marc C. Brigantti, Coree A. Brigantty, Matthew J. Sepulveda and Sydney J. Sepulveda.
God wanted Richie in heaven. It broke our hearts to lose him. Richie will always live in the hearts of those he touched, for no one loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.
Rest in eternal peace Richie! Until we meet again.
